About image
A native of Northern Virginia, Sara has lived in the Myrtle Beach area for three decades. In that time, she's built a career as educator, editor, and writer at Coastal Carolina University and developed a regional following for her freelance magazine writing.

As a senior lecturer in the Department of English at CCU, Sara teaches courses in business, professional, and public writing, and she also mentors undergraduate and graduate students in professional writing. As publications editor for the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, Sara writes and edits Tapestry, the college alumni magazine (see CCU: People, Places, Perspectives); CCU's semi-annual cultural arts calendar; a weekly newsletter; and feature stories on the people, events, and trends within the Edwards College.

Sara is enrolled in the MFA in Writing/nonfiction program at Bennington College and is working on a book-length memoir. She contributes regularly to Grand Strand Magazine (see Profile; Local Trends; and Travel) and serves as a writing consultant for the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach. She published the cookbook Bonjour, Y'all: Heidi's Fusion Cooking on the South Carolina Coast with co-author Heidi Vukov in 2015 (see Food)

Outside of work, Sara enjoys running, hiking, cooking, reading, and going to the beach.
